Give it room to breathe
Fridges push heat out from the back and sides. In a hot kitchen, a fridge jammed against the wall works much harder. Leave 5–10cm of space.
Clean the coils and check seals
Dust on the condenser coils and worn door gaskets are the most common causes of weak cooling. A clean and new seal can solve it cheaply.
When to replace
If the compressor is failing or it needs a gas recharge on an old model, a tested used fridge is often cheaper than repair.
